Artificial sweeteners have long since been my go-to, but only recently have I come to understand that in addition to the known problems with them, even the best of them, and most natural, have this problem at the core: When your taste buds recognize sweetness, they EXPECT calories. When you douse your sensory system with a substance that does so, but has no calories, your body gets confused and sends signals of hunger to request calories for energy that it thinks it will need. The result of course is you are hungrier and eat more than if you had not had the artificial sweeteners. So you are taking in more calories because of them even though they are often zero calories. Ugh. No thank you.
Now what about fast foods? Why are they SO terrible? These chain restaurants are FULL of bliss-point foods. Foods that are specifically created to have an almost magical formula of fat AND sugar content to lead you to be addicted as well as never satiated. It is science and most people are not immune to this.
Awareness is the first step. Change your belief. Change your health. Change your life.
NOTE: This is not bashing or suggesting abstinence from fruits and whole grain carbohydrates. Those are essential. This is suggesting that MANY forms of sugar, most actually, in the forms of processed sugar and flour, most common in the Standard American Diet (SAD), wreak havoc and harm to the body and are clearly toxic and unnecessary.
This is NOT recommending ANY diet. I do not believe in diets. This is recommending eliminating the sugar and flour that are truly more harmful and addictive to our general population than cocaine. This is recommending eliminating artificial sweeteners because studies have shown they actually lead to weight GAIN. This is recommending avoiding fast food as much as possible because it is LITERALLY designed to keep you coming back for more.
Trust me, life is naturally sweet. This path is not about restriction or deprivation. It is about freedom. It is about quality of life.
Wishing you a naturally sweet life,
Nikola Rosa
